About American Alien

In 12 Years I Had...

American Alien was born from my own journey as a foreign "alien" moving to the U.S. from Brazil. Over 12 years, I navigated a maze of visas—from F-1 to OPT, then H1-B with renewals and extensions, eventually starting the EB-2 Green Card process before pivoting and securing residency through a family-based Green Card. This game is inspired by my real-life experiences, as well as those of friends who’ve been through similar challenges.

While American Alien is designed to be fun, it also highlights the complex, often exhausting path to staying in America. My hope is that players find it both entertaining and eye-opening.

Part of the proceeds from American Alien will help support Casa Marianella, a nonprofit organization in Austin, Texas, dedicated to providing shelter and support services to immigrants and refugees.

Together we can have some fun while helping other Alien friends on their journey towards residency!
